For over 30 years, Jason Van Gulick has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to music, notably accompanying on drums Carla Bozulich/evangelista (US), Edwood Jr (FR), Sum of R (Ch), and Wolvennest (BE) across tour in Europe. But it is in his solo work, within a more experimental and performative framework, that he has established himself as a musician in his own right. Since 2009, he has embarked on a demanding sonic exploration, confronting drums and percussion with various types of performance spaces, using resonance as a guiding principle. He has found in this relationship between sound and architecture an unlimited playground for his creations. In addition to recordings with other projects (Bison Bisou, Soleil Noir, Edwood Jr), he has released two solo albums : Entelechy (Idiosyncratics 2012) and Concrete (Consouling/Siken Tofu/Nunc 2018).
Matthieu C Vergez concerts (musician, author, iconoclastic creative) oscillate variably between poetry, tempered noise and minimalism. In a resolutely improvised and experimental approach, using an electric guitar, cassette tapes or various objects, he creates an assembly of scenes, sober, lingering sounds. Sometimes, the voice appears, the recitative text acting as a sensitive link, a suspension in this ensemble of sharp movements - that tenuous, almost indescribable thread.
